5 YouTube Console Repair Channels to Follow

Posted on Aug. 17, 2024 | Updated on Sept. 3, 2024 by Jay L.

There seems to be as many console repair channels on YouTube as there are games in the PlayStation library. Of course, not all of them are made equally. Some may give bad advice which, if taken, can lead to permanent damage to your console whereas others are just plain old boring.

I am here to help you wade through the mediocrity with my choices for educational yet entertaining content.

Here are 5 YouTube channels I highly recommend you check out if you enjoy console repair content.

StezStix Fix?

Stez is a comical, very self-aware fellow who attempts to repair all kinds of electronic devices, including retro and modern video game consoles. His content is more entertaining than it is educational but that doesn't mean you won't learn a thing or two. If anything, you're likely to make the same mistakes as he's made and that's definitely something you can learn from!

Joey Does Tech

Joey quit his day job at Rocket Repairs to start his own console repair business. His ongoing "Profit or Loss" series, where he buys faulty consoles from eBay, fixes them - or tries to - and determines how much of a profit he can make by reselling them, provides an interesting look at how ineffective of a business model this would be in practice. The production quality of his channel is very good, and his charismatic personality and his ability to explain his repair process makes his videos a must watch.

TronicsFix

Steve from TronicsFix is a repair technician with many years of experience. As opposed to most of the other channels mentioned here, there is actually a small production team behind this channel's videos which translates into very well paced, high quality videos. At the time of writing, Steve is battling through some health issues so along with new, less frequent videos, he is also releasing longer cuts of older videos. The channel features an extensive backlog of episodes to keep you busy so dig in - but don't forget to add the perfect amount of thermal paste!

TheCod3r

Quite possibly the most skilled repair technician on this list, TheCod3r offers a different flavor of repair videos. He focuses primarily on modern consoles and gets into much more technical explanations of his repairs. He mostly uploads recordings of his livestreams so do not expect the highest production value. This does of course mean that he is able to churn out more content for our viewing pleasure.

My Mate VINCE

Vince, from My Mate VINCE, is one of the most entertaining hosts on this list. His videos are also quite diverse with some being almost feature length films while others can be less than 20 minutes long. He calls the latter Tea Break Fixes which I just think is lovely. Adding to the diversity of the channel are the various items he fixes. Sure, you will find video game consoles and other electronic gadgets. However, you can also find telephones, small appliances, watches and even mechanical toys from the 70s!
